Network Security

To give security to the data communications you can achieve it at all network levels and with different technologies, not always should think in implementing the security in the OSI levels corresponding to the IP networks.

A good solution in perimetral network-security aids to avoid losses of bandwidth on the internet, due to the unwanted traffic, and losses of performance in the IT equipment, because of the overwork of the  servers and workstations CPU due to products of computer security.

The OSI network and transportation levels, being the highest ones, usually are on which the network-security is implemented in the SME sector. In these levels 2 basic technologies are used to hardening the network: VPN (IPSec) and Firewalls (FW, UTM). There are firewalls that act on the application level (OSI level 7), but are not usually to consider for the perimetral security for reasons of performance.

The OSI data link level is used to segment, or to separate without disconnection, networks. This allows creating private networks for its clients to the operators and to suppliers of services. It is possible to use this level to ensure restricted areas of a LAN.
